The portal sanding centre PSZ enables the processing of any possible workpiece shape with 3-dimensional contour. The free in space movable workpiece guiding head is mounted to a heavy portal. The axis of this portal are movable in X, Y and vertically in Z direction. The turning and swivelling axis are very short to reduce angle faults. All linear axis are moved by dynamic servo drives that ensure a high positioning speed. Due to this heavy machine construction it is possible to do precise and forming sanding tasks in the same quality as with the sanding centre SZ 2.

The advantage over the SZ 2 is that the workpiece can be moved individually and that it passes the sanding units 3-dimensionally. In comparison to articulated-arm robot systems there is a distinctive higher precision that results from the machine construction that is similar to a processing centre.

The portal sanding robot can be equipped with different types of sanding units. As an advantage, they are mounted to a turning device, that can swivel in the movement area of the individually necessary sanding unit by means of CNC-control.
