Karl Heesemann

In 1933, during an economically difficult period of time the engineer Karl Heesemann founded the company Heesemann. Right from the beginning he specialized in the production of sanding machines. After the Second World War automatic sanding machines for the permanently growing furniture industry were developed. During this period basic inventions were made which are still milestones in the sanding technique today. Karl Heesemann responsibly led the enterprise up to an advanced age of 93 years until he died in February 2002. The management and all employees feel obliged to ensure the company´s role of innovative forerunner in the sanding technique for the future.

   Milestones of the sanding technique

1952
First profile sanding machine

The PK 1, world wide the first running through profile sanding machine was the forerunner of the contemporary complex profile and edge sanding machines and installations

1956
Semi-automatic long belt sanding machine with pressure segment belt

The development of the pressure segment belt which for the first time, allowed a uniform sanding over the entire surface by means of a long belt is the base for all present cross sanding units and automatic long belt sanding machines.

1963
First cross sanding group

Thanks to the mechanical cross sanding with presanding against the fibre direction and the following finish sanding in fibre direction a surface quality has been achieved which had not been known before.

1981
First electronically controlled pressure beam

The further development of the special pressure beam including electronic pressure elements is the base`s for sanding machines with electronic pressure beam.

1987
CSD®-System with electro magnetic pressure elements

The innovative and world wide unique electromagnetic pressure beam system in all Heesemann surface sanding machines today is able to steplessly adjust the pressure force on each individual pressure element of the pressure beams. The result is a very adaptable pressure control especially in the edge area.

1997
CNC-Sanding centre

The sanding centre SZ 2 for the first time allows the processing of variably formed contours by means of belt sanding units.
